          What is PocketNotepad?

            PocketNotepad is a pocket version of Windows Notepad. PocketNotepad runs on CE devices.

              The concept of PocketNotepad is "To provide the same feature as Windows Notepad does" or "Nothing added to the original Notepad". :-) That is, no toolbars, rebar bands, etc...

                On the other hand, it does not provide several functions as it is becoming to its name. The eliminated functions are, for example, printing, drag&drop and so on.

                  Thus, in the case you do not use Notepad on your desktop mainly, it is not considered as appropriate to use PocketNotepad heavily on your CE device. It is thought as appropriate to use PocketNotepad for viewing text files, for taking short memo, for a buffer in cutting and pasting.

                    While, in the case you are a heavy user of Windows Notepad, PocketNotepad would be the most preferable editor on your CE device. It's small, light, cute and simple. PocketNotepad does not require MFC dll. It's really small!


                      How to execute

                        By choosing PocketNotepad in Accessory of Programs from the Start menu, or in Programs for Pocket PC , PocketNotepad executes.


                          How to exit

                            You can quit by choosing exit item in the File menu, or exit button on the upper right corner of PocketNotepad window in the case you are using H/PC.


                              How to keep a journal

                                You can keep a journal by putting .LOG on the very beginning of a file. Please do not forget the preceeding dot (.).

                                  The current date and time will be inserted into the end of the document whenever you open the file.


                                    How to uninstall

                                      You can uninstall it via the Remove Programs applet in the control panel. There is an entry named "Tillanosoft PocketNotepad". Choose the entry then press Remove button.


                                        OK button for Pocket PC version

                                          For Pocket PC version, optional OK button can be put at the top right corner like the other document editors (eg. Pocket Word).

                                            Pushing OK button will force your modification on your document to reflect to its file. And PocketNotepad will close its window.

                                              If the document had not been modified, pushing OK button will close PocketNotepad window without affecting the file.


                                                Mapping to a hardware button

                                                  In the case PocketNotepad was mapped to a hardware button, pushing the button will expose PocketNotepad very quickly if PocketNotepad was executing but not at the top of the screen.

                                                    In addition, holding the button over 1 second will refresh the text. (Please note that some device has a capability of mapping a program to "holding a button" separately from pushing the button. In such case, holding to refresh may not work.)
